Michael Edwards has been appointed regional director for UK, Europe and South Africa at Intrepid Travel. Edwards joins the tour operator form G Adventures where he was managing director from the EMEA region. He has also held senior roles at Flight Centre and lastminute.com.au.
Kate Fenton has joined Tourism New Zealand as its premium trade manager – Europe. Fenton will lead the tourism board’s premium strategy with the trade in the newly-created role and will be based in London. She previously spent seven years working at a representation agency for several tourism, cruise and hotel clients.
James Runnicles has been promoted to UK head of sales at FCm Travel Solutions. Runnicles joined FCm’s parent company Flight Centre Limited in 2003 as a travel consultant and moved to the business side a year later, moving up in roles since. Since January 2012 he was sales director.
Perrine Chapelain has been named director of sales MICE in the UK at Orient-Express. Chapelain joins the group from the Leading Hotels of the World where she headed up MICE sales in the UK for three years. In her new role, Chapelain will handle MICE partnerships and sales in the UK for its hotels, cruise and rail business.
John Gilbert has been re-elected as president of the Eurolines Organisation. Gilbert will continue to hold the role for two years in what will be his third term in the role. His focus will be to further improve customer service on its coach services throughout Europe.
Miguel Neves has been named as the new president of the Meeting Professionals International, UK & Ireland Chapter. Neves, who is senior online community manager of the IMEX Group, takes over from Leisure Industry Week’s James Samuel who has stepped down from the role. Neves has already held several roles on the MPI committee.
Stephen Burke has been appointed vice president, connectivity and enterprise integration at eRevMax. Burke will be based in Prague and will focus on strengthening and streamlining the company’s distribution systems and connectivity. Burke has been a member of HTNG since 2005 and been involved in several technology projects
