The Saff, a new 79-room boutique hotel, has opened its doors in Singapore. The property is the second independent hotel managed by Grace International, which previously opened The Scarlet. Located on Keong Saik Road, near Chinatown and the financial district, The Saff will target the 20 to 35 age group, with corporate travellers expected to make up 30% of its guests.
The hotel offers three different room categories – Standard, Superior and Deluxe – each decorated and designed with elements from countries on the anicent spice routes, such as Spain, Morocco, Turkey, India and Thailand. The name ‘Saff’ is short for saffron.
“I have always been intrigued by the fineness and the flavour of the tiny saffron threads,” said Grace International’s Executive Director, Geeson P. Lawadinata. “The hotel, likewise, aims to offer a precious experience and evocative wonders, just like saffron. The experience shall be exceptional. It combines the warmth of our hospitality and the opportunity for our guests to enjoy the heritage of our distinctive location.
“The vision for Grace International was to design a hotel that offers a unique experience, right from the visual experience to every detail of feel and touch. In an effort to preserve much of its original flavour and give the quaint old space a new grace, it has now become a fusion of East and West. The efforts of the government to retain as much as intended, are apparent in the conservation buildings and parks around us. In keeping with this similar vision, we welcome the valuable opportunity of doing our part in restoring the rich nostalgia of Chinatown, a veritable part in the history, culture and tourism of Singapore.”
