Redefine|BDL Hotels expands senior management team
Redefine|BDL Hotels has welcomed a host of new faces to its senior team, following significant growth within the group’s portfolio of hotels.
Among the new recruits tasked to help support the growth of the UK’s largest independent management company is director of operations Paul Harnedy and divisional director Wayne Topley.
Both candidates took up their posts at the beginning of the year, with Harnedy overseeing hotel performance across 32 of the group’s 70 hotels. Topley, who joins from IHG, where he managed a cluster of hotels in the North West, is responsible for operations in nine of Redefine|BDL Hotels’ high performing properties.
Becky Hall has also joined the company as group human resources manager. Hall will bolster the HR team responsible for talent management, recruitment and learning and development across all 70 Redefine|BDL Hotel managed properties.
The former area director of HR and Development at IHG brings with her a wealth of experience and will lead a team of seven area HR managers.
Conrad London St. James appoints new exec chef
Conrad London St. James has confirmed the appointment of Michael Riordan as executive chef. With 26 years of expertise in international luxury hotel cookery, Riordan brings strong leadership and influential character to the position. His progressive background in F&B and direct, innovative leadership skills have been acknowledged by awards such as the Marriott International Chef of the Year in 2010, as well as participation in the Global Culinary School in Washington, United States. A well-rounded chef luminary, Riordan is also heavily involved in charity and spearheads industry education in conjunction with Westminster College.
Riordan said of his appointment, “I look forward to the challenge of working with a new team and implementing an innovative menu to delight guests and compliment the creative food offering already in existence at the hotel. With lots of changes on the horizon, it is set to be an exciting year.”
Hughes named GM of Park Inn by Radisson Northampton
The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Nicholas Hughes general manager of the Park Inn by Radisson Northampton. “I am delighted that Nicholas is joining us as general manager in Northampton. I am sure that the hotel will go from strength-to-strength under his leadership,” said Peter Montague, area director, Park Inn, UK & Ireland.
Hughes, a British national, is an experienced general manager with more than 20 years’ experience. He launched his career at Thistle Hotels, Golden Valley, Cheltenham, where he occupied various managerial roles for six years.
From 2008 to 2011, Hughes was employed as general manager of Rugby’s Brownsover Hall Hotel. His most recent position prior to his new role was general manager of the Mercure Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa, Shrewsbury.
