Thousands expected at Amarnath Yatra

As many as 300,000 pilgrims have registered to undertake the trek to the cave shrine of Lord Shiva in Kashmir, starting from 29 June. The shrine is located at a height of 3880 metres in the Himalayas, and involves walking over 30 km although helicopters and horses are available. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for Amarnath Yatra (journey), considered one of the holiest.The pilgrimage will continue for 45 days.
