Best Western will expand its foot print in India with three hotels in Bengal which it will develop in partnership with city-based developer Jain Group.
The Telegraph Calcutta reports that the first property will open at Rajarhat by early 2014 after which two more will open in Siliguri and Durgapur.
The 150-room hotel in Rajarhat, primarily targeting the IT sector clients, will cost INR100 crore.
The Siliguri property will be a premium 100-room property, similar to the Rajarhat project, while Durgapur will be a budget destination with 65-75 rooms.
“We are putting in around INR260 crore in the three hotels. The properties will be owned and managed by us. Best Western will set the standard for design and service.
They will also take up worldwide marketing,” said Shreyas Jain, Vice-Chairman of Jain Group.
Sudhir Sinha, President and COO of Best Western in India which presently has 19 properties in the country, said the company is upbeat about Bengal’s prospects.
“We are also looking at Kharagpur, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and Guwahati in eastern India.
Once the Jain hotels come up, we will have both leisure and business properties in Kolkata,” Sinha added.
The upcoming Kolkata property at Action Area III of Rajarhat is being tailor-made for business travellers.
The hotel will have an exclusive club floor with private conference rooms to suit executives, three banquet halls and two conference rooms.
It may also act as a transit hub for airport travellers.
