A survey of over 1,000 passengers by cheapflights.co.uk has revealedthat the public is backing British Airways in its dispute with strikingcabin crew.
Participants were asked whether they would support the cabin crew if industrial action was called in an online poll between Tuesday 16 February and Monday 22 February. It closed two hours before the current strike plans were announced.
The results showed staggering support for BA, with 75 per cent of respondents saying they had no sympathy for the cabin drew, describing them as ‘overpaid and underworked’.
Only 20% were on the cabin crew’s side and 5% remained indecisive, saying they would consider backing the strike if their flights were not affected by it.
Joseph Sikorsky, Global Brand Director of Cheapflights Media said: “BA cabin crew are far more privileged than their counterparts at airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, bmi and easyJet. The changes that have been made to their working conditions reflect fundamental restructuring which is vital if the flag carrier is to avoid the fate of so many other airlines that ceased operations during the recession.”
Meanwhile, these figures have been reflected in sales numbers, as travel provider Premier Holidays has seen a 41% increase in sales with BA from December, when talks about the strikes started.
Susan Papworth, Managing Director of Premier, said:”BA has released some fantastic offers which are winning over customer concern. Also, availability generally is getting tight over the next three months, so for late bookings, if there is availability with BA, they will get the booking.
