Tianjin Airlines handled a record number of passengers in 2015.
The Chinese carrier, which is owned by the HNA Group, boarded 11.1 million passengers last year, up 11.8% compared to 2014. The airline took delivery of eight new aircraft – six Airbus A320s and two Embraer E195s – in 2015, taking its total fleet to 86 aircraft.
The Tianjin-based airline also launched new scheduled flights to Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul and Bangkok last year, and will spread its wings further afield in 2016 with the start of its first trans-Pacific flights to Vancouver.
These will be operated using the airline’s first ever twin-aisle aircraft, with three A330s set to join its fleet.
Founded in June 2009, Tianjin Airlines currently operates from bases in Tianjin, Xi’an, Hohhot and Urumqi.
