A spectacular new development situated along 1km of Tianjin’s waterfront has been unveiled. The project, designed by international design firm, Woods Bagot, will be located at East Port, a 33km2 area of newly reclaimed land adjacent to Tianjin’s Port area. Designed as a first-class seaside conference and tourist destination, the development consists of a 630-room Sheraton hotel, a yacht club and marina, seaside restaurants, retail mall, villas and a promenade. The hotel architecture is characterised by two ‘wings’ which were developed to maximize the number of rooms with sea views. The wings are connected through an eight storey high central atrium that houses the hotel executive lounge space and a special event venue. The marina club meanwhile, has a dynamic shape that opens up to the sea on the East, and twists up to form a visible beacon. The retail mall is the key element that connects the hotel and marina club together providing all weather access. Patrick Cheung, Vice Chairman of Rainbow Land Holdings, said; “We appointed Woods Bagot as we felt that they had a great understanding of the vision we had in mind for the new Tianjin. Our aim is to create a new, world class waterfront development not just for Tianjin but for all of China; and make it a must-visit business and leisure destination for the region.”
