Singapore, 21 April 2010: Tiger Airways Singapore today announced new flights to Tiruchirappalli - also popularly known as Trichy - from November 2010.
This will be Tiger Airways’ 34th destination in Asia-Pacific, and its third in India besides Bangalore and Chennai.
Tickets are on sale now, for travel between 1 November 2010 and 26 March 2011. There are four flights weekly, on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Rosalynn Tay, Tiger Airways Singapore Managing Director, said, “We are pleased to expand Tiger Airways’ low-fare offering to the world’s second most populous country. Tiruchirappalli, or Trichy, is not just a destination in its own right. It also serves the vast hinterland of south India, being centrally located in Tamil Nadu. As the only airline to fly direct from there to Singapore, we offer travelers much greater convenience and valuable time savings, in addition to our famous low, low fares.”
Trichy is a major city and district located right in the centre of Tamil Nadu. With over 2,500 years of known history, Trichy is popular with tourists for its rich ancient culture and architecture. It is home to monuments such as the world’s largest temple complex and the oldest man-made dam. At the same time, Trichy is served by modern infrastructure including an international airport, as well as roads and rail that connect it with the rest of Tamil Nadu and India.
Tiger Airways is also growing its pawprint in India by increasing flights to Chennai, from 11 times weekly to twice daily. It continues to serve Bangalore with five flights per week.
