Tour operators cancel Egypt flights and tours

Thomson, Monarch and Red Sea Holidays have cancelled flights to Luxor in light of the extended protests in Egypt. Following a review of the current situation in Egypt - and with the protests moving to the popular tourist city over the weekend - Red Sea Holidays decided alongside its flight partners to cancel its flights yesterday. Staff at the tour operator said that customers who were due to fly out are now being offered a full refund, alternative travel dates or the option to switch to the Red Sea where the resorts are unaffected by the recent action. “Those already in Luxor at the end of their holiday will be flying back today as planned,” read a statement for the operator. “Those who are in Luxor but not due to fly out until later dates are all being contacted by the Red Sea Holidays representatives and being offered the option to fly back to the UK sooner if they wish. As of today, the resorts of Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada remain unaffected by the incidents and holidaymakers in the area continue with their holidays as planned.”
