Tourist arrivals rise in April

The Ministry of Tourism has reported a 1.7% year-on-year increase in the number of international tourists visiting the country in April 2010. Last month 3.54 lakh foreign tourists arrived in India, compared to 3.48 lakh in the same month last year. For the year-to-April 2010, international arrivals totalled 19.18 lakh - up 10.6% year-on-year. India’s tourism receipts increased 11.3% in April 2010, to INR4,518 crore.
