Malaysian train service – Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) – has put into operation a novel idea to demonstrate that Muslims can go on tours during the fasting month of Ramadan without having to worry about where to break fast or perform the obligatory prayers.
KTMB’s Pelancongan Ibadah tours were introduced this year with the inaugural trip from Kuala Lumpur to Wakaf Baru in Kelantan, taking 15 hours.
“KTMB wants to encourage tourism and help Muslims discard the notion that they cannot go on tours during the fasting month,” KTMB General Manager Sarbini Tijan was quoted saying in a Bernama report.
When the time came for the breaking of fast, passengers who did not bring food could get it from the cafe on the train.
