Flight schedules to and from the UK continued to face cancellations and delays today as the air industry attempts to resume operations. Gatwick and Heathrow reopened earlier today but face several disruptions, as well as Aberdeen, Edinburgh, London City and Birmingham’s airports. However, travel agents were warned not to send passengers to airports unless their flight had been confirmed. “Please advise all passengers not to go to LHR until advised to do so, as the terminal is crowded and police will not allow additional passengers into the Terminal building,” TAM Airlines said in a statement. “We have aircraft positioned in Europe to come into LHR today, but are awaiting confirmation of landing slots as we cannot take off before having these allocated to us by the BAA.” Meanwhile, British Airways cancelled its short-haul flights from Heathrow at midday and said it would operate longhaul flights where possible.
