Travel and tourism companies, particularly Brazilian airlines and hotels, will be bracing themselves for World Cup enquiries tomorrow when the match draw takes place.
The location for each match during the tournament next year will be determined tomorrow, meaning fans across the world will be looking to book up domestic flights and hotel accommodation to see their teams play.
However the FCO and Football Supporters Federation have warned fans to consider the distance between host cities when choosing when to travel, as flights can take up to four hours.
“It’s really important that fans think carefully before they travel and know what to expect in Brazil. Every tournament is different and the travel distances to get between games will make an Exeter to Hartlepool away day look like a doddle,” said Kevin Miles, chief executive of Football Supporters Federation.
As well as the distances, the FCO has also advised that passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry; be aware of legal requirements for children entering Brazil; to obtain the right travel insurance and to be aware of protests, crime and road safety.
