Langley, UK, 21.09.2009: Travelport GDS, one of the world’s leading providers of global distribution systems (GDS), operating both the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, has today announced details of two new multi-year content agreements with leading hotel groups, reconline and Classic International.
Under the new agreement, all of the hotel’s rates, including those bookable on all other channels including its websites, will be made available to Travelport-GDS connected users worldwide. Additionally, as part of the new agreements, both hotel groups have also upgraded their participation level to Galileo’s Complete Pricing Plus programme for hotels. An industry first, the Complete Pricing Plus programme gives travel agents access to all the normal rates and rules as well as additional detailed pricing information on optional room extras.
The Complete Pricing Plus booking tool builds on the functionality of its predecessor – Complete Pricing – by not only automating and returning fully comprehensive pricings for hotel bookings, but also by providing detailed information on the room and rate prior to sale including detailed prices on optional extras such as adding children to a booking, extra bedding and cribs.
This streamlines the booking process, especially for leisure bookings, and provides a consistent approach with the way travel agencies price hotel stays. In turn this saves time for hoteliers, agents and travellers by returning more detailed information regarding hotel rates and room features.
“We are very pleased to renew our distribution agreement with Travelport and also sign up to Galileo’s Complete Pricing Plus programme”, said Markus Maissen, chief technology officer at Switzerland-based reconline. “This higher participation level in Galileo will give agents and therefore the traveller better visibility of our prices and facilities during the booking process.”
Travelport GDS director of hospitality distribution, Jane Lewis, stated “I’m delighted to have signed these new agreements with two very significant players in the hotel sector. It’s great too that that they’ve both recognised the value of participation in the Complete Pricing Plus programme. Our ongoing strategy in the hotel sector is to make booking hotels on the GDS as straightforward and efficient as possible for both hoteliers and travel agents.”
Separately, Quality Reservations hotel group has also opted for the Complete Pricing Plus solution for which there is no charge incurred by hotel chains to participate. Complete Pricing Plus previously launched with Supranational Hotels and its Columbus Reservation System.
