A UK shopkeeper found a novel solution to a staff shortage, by leaving his hardware store open on Boxing Day – with only an ‘honesty box’ for customers to pay into, the Daily Mail reported.
Tom Algie wanted to give himself and his three staff the day off but without letting down his customers, so he left a note telling shoppers to serve themselves and then leave their payment in the box.
On returning to the shop later that day he found had taken GBP187.66 (US$273) – and two euros!
