Tucan Travel has criticised the travel industry for focusing too much on commission-led partnerships. “There is a worrying trend where preferred product is chosen by which operator pays the highest commission rather than supplies the best customer experience,” Tucan Travel’s Sales and Marketing Manager Spencer Neal told Travel Daily. “We believe that we have a model that combines good commission payments and leaves us with enough to invest within the company and local partners. This then improves the overall customer experience and creates sustainability.” Neal explained that travel agency sales had remained stable throughout the year and he anticipated “continued sales growth over the next twelve months” following a new brochure and website launch. In addition, Tucan has found that Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Egypt have been popular destinations with customers, as well as South East Asia. “Latin America has also seen resurgence from a disappointing Q1 &2,” he added.
