Twelve elephants found dead in Orissa national park

A dozen elephants have been found killed in Simlipal National Park, Orissa state. According to a Times of India report, the discoveries were made during a recent census of the animals’ numbers. While organised poaching gangs are thought to have carried out the killings, the report states that some forestry officials may have tried to cover up the deaths, or even been complicit in the slaughter.
