Twenty injured on Emirates flight

An Emirates plane flying from Dubai to Kochi plunged 60 metres in severe turbulence, injuring 20 people, an airline official has been reported saying. The aircraft, with 350 passengers on board, landed safely shortly after the incident. Majid Al Mualla, Emirates Senior Vice President, said that the plane encountered a “short period of heavy turbulence” and that those hurt only suffered minor injuries. India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation has ordered an investigation into the incident.
