UK flights were more punctual during this year’s second quarter than 2010’s, according to figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Data has revealed that 82% of scheduled flights were on time in Q2, up 4% on last year, with significant improvements at Stansted, Luton and Gatwick by 10%, 8% and 7% respectively. Flights from regional airports increased punctuality by 3% while Heathrow and London City’s improved 1%. The average delay was registered at 11 minutes, three minutes shorter than last year. “The last 18 months have seen unprecedented disruption and we are pleased to see the sector recovering from this,” said Iain Osborne, gropu director for regularoty policy at CAA. “It is also pleasing that growth has not been at the expense of punctuality, and we hope to see collaborative work by the industry continue to reduce delays”.
