The United Nations is encouraging staff at its New York office to wear cooler suits this summer in a bid to save on air conditioning costs, Reuters has reported. “There is going to be a relaxing of the dress protocols and people are being encouraged to wear lighter clothing,” said US architect Michael Adlerstein, who is overseeing a US$1.8 billion renovation of the 60-year-old UN building. He added that about US$100,000 would be saved by the measure.
