United, US Airways plan merger - report

United Airlines’ parent company, UAL Corp, and US Airways Group Inc are holding talks on a merger that would create the USA’s second-largest carrier, Bloomberg has reported, citing anonymous sources. The report claims that discussions have been under way since February. United is currently the country’s third largest airline, while US Airways is America’s sixth biggest carrier.
