URBN Hotels to develop new Chinese property

URBN Hotels & Resorts has signed on to develop a 300 Mil RMB landmark boutique hotel in conjunction with Shanghai government development authority Chengtou. URBN’s third hotel is the cornerstone of a new, premium downtown villa residence community. It will be located in the Lu Xiang Yuan district between two famous landmarks Cheng Huang Miao (Yu Gardens) and Xin Tian Di, within walking distance of the Bund and People’s Square, directly opposite a 500 year old Daoist temple.The 9,000 sqm luxury boutique property is being designed by SPACE Development and KoKai Studios. The aesthetic philosophy will be based on the intersection between east and west creating a unique design embodying old and new worlds. It will feature 75 guest rooms, an URBN wellness spa, international food and beverage outlets and a private Chinese restaurant. The property will also keep in line with URBN’s core belief of sustainability in both the design and operation. URBN Lu Xiang Yuan will open in the spring of 2012.URBN Hotels and Resorts managing director, Jules Kwan, believes in the project’s impact to the area. “We are extremely excited to be partnering with Chengtou, on what will become the undisputed pinnacle of boutique hotels in Shanghai URBN LuXiangYuan.
