The US National Debt Clock in New York has run out of digits, following a surge in US government deficits, the BBC has reported. The digital counter, erected in 1989 to highlight the country’s US$2.7 trillion debt, has now passed US$10 trillion mark, leaving the counter unable to display the full amount.
The clock’s owners have said that two more zeros will be added, allowing the clock to record a quadrillion dollars of debt.
