European plane manufacturer Airbus has said that Vietnam would be a profitable market for its A380 aircraft, the Thanh Nien News has reported.
Speaking at a luncheon in Ho Chi Minh City, Airbus Director of Regional Communications for Asia, Sean Lee, said the A380 would help Vietnam Airlines operate long-haul flights to Europe and the US in the future.
“We consider Vietnam as one of our key markets in Southeast Asia in the next decades,” Lee said, adding that key routes in and out of Vietnam will grow by 4.9% in the next few years.
At present, Airbus accounts for 63% of all aircraft orders by Vietnamese air carriers, though Lee said he expected the figure to rise to 71% in coming years.
