Vietnam’s aviation industry this year will grow 15% year-on-year in 2010, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) has said. The forecast marks a significant increase from the CAAV’s previous prediction of an 8% rise. The head of the CAAV’s Aviation Transport division, Vo Huy Cuong, said that the upward revision has taken due to the recovery of the global economy, and domestic and foreign airlines announcing plans to increase flights to the country. Vietnam Airlines plans transport 11 million passengers this year - up 18% from 2009. Meanwhile low-cost carriers such as Jetstar and AirAsia are also boosting links to the country.
