Police in Vietnam have reported a double haul in the battle against trading wildlife and animal parts. According to a Thanh Nien News report, officials seized nearly 150kg of elephant tusks in Quang Ninh province, on the border with China. The report stated that the haul of 45 tusks, worth around VND2.5 billion (US$130,000), was found hidden in a car trying to cross the border. Meanwhile police in Ho Chi Minh City said they had discovered 33 endangered pangolins at the city’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The Sunda Pangolins, also known as scaly anteaters, were found alive in 11 parcels bound for Hanoi. It was thought the animals had been smuggled in from Cambodia and were bound for China.
