VinSpeed, a member of Vingroup, and Siemens Mobility have entered into a comprehensive strategic partnership to enhance high-speed rail capabilities in Vietnam.
The agreement, signed on 17 December, aims to transfer advanced technology and promote localisation, marking a significant step in developing modern transport infrastructure in the country.
Siemens Mobility, known for its expertise in high-speed rail technology, will design, supply, and integrate rolling stock and key railway subsystems, including signalling, telecommunications, and power supply systems, as well as its Velaro Novo trains, designed to operate at speeds up to 350 km/h.
These trains offer ten percent more passenger capacity and reduce energy consumption by 30 percent, making them suitable for Vietnam's diverse terrain.
The collaboration will also focus on maintenance and technology transfer to maximise localisation for VinSpeed's projects.
The partnership includes a Framework Agreement for supplying rolling stock for high-speed rail projects from Hanoi to Quang Ninh and Ben Thanh to Can Gio.
Local expertise meets global experience
VinSpeed CEO Pham Thieu Hoa highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating it combines VinSpeed's local expertise with Siemens Mobility's global experience.
On the other hand, Siemens Mobility CEO Michael Peter expressed pride in supporting Vietnam's first high-speed rail lines, emphasising the project's potential to transform rail travel and drive economic growth.
VinSpeed, part of Vingroup's Infrastructure pillar, aims to lead Vietnam's high-speed rail development, aligning with international standards of technology and sustainability.
This collaboration is expected to position Vietnam as a leader in high-speed rail innovation.
