Virgin Blue yesterday launched a new sector, flying daily between Perth and Darwin. Today also marks the resumption of Virgin Blue’s Melbourne-Darwin services, operating six times per week (a doubling of previous three weekly operations).
“In the current environment the addition of close to 250,000 domestic seats by Virgin Blue is welcome news” said Ian Kew, CEO of Darwin International Airport. “Virgin Blue services will effectively double the non-stop seat capacity between Darwin and Perth, and we will also have two airlines offering services on the Melbourne-Darwin sector.”
