Low-cost carrier Virgin Blue has said that 400 jobs will be affected when it axes as many as five aircraft from its fleet, but it was too early to say whether these would include redundancies, The Age has reported.
Australia’s second largest airline said it would remove 8% of capacity from its domestic fleet from May in line with a forecast drop in domestic demand.
Virgin Blue spokesperson, Heather Jeffery, was reported saying that involuntary redundancies would be an “‘absolute last resort”.
