Virgin Blue may buy US$3.5bn of Boeing planes

Virgin Blue is in talks with Boeing to make a AU$4 billion (US$3.5 billion) aircraft purchase, Bloomberg has reported, citing the Australian Financial Review. The planes replace those that are currently leased. According to the report, Virgin Blue plans to buy between 35 and 50 aircraft from Boeing as leases on 25 of its Boeing 737s expire from 2011.
