BALPA has called off a pilots’ strike at Virgin Atlantic following a new pay deal from the airline. Pilots were due to strike in an ongoing row with management but the union has now cancelled the industrial action while it ballots members on the latest offer. The result and details of the offer will be announced in three weeks. “Pilots have never wished to inconvenience the travelling public, especially those looking forward to summer holidays,” said Jim McAuslan, general secretary of BALPA. “We have therefore lifted the threat of strike action.”
