ProtectMyHoliday.com has launched insurance policies to cover consumer costs when companies go bankrupt. Research from Defacto recently found that 77% of travel insurance products do not provide financial protection when there are insolvency issues. “With over 75 airlines collapsing since the start of the recession plus continued record losses in the airline and travel sectors it is vitally important those travelling outside of ATOL protection get peace of mind against collapses,” explained International Passenger Protection Ltd Key Account Manager Michael Ward. Now the website has launched a new platform allowing users to tailor their insurance policies. This includes bookings with airlines, hotels, car hire and theme parks. The CAA arrange ATOL protection for some bookings but this has become difficult since more holidaymakers book aspects of their break from various operators. Travellers using transport other than aeroplanes, visiting friends and relatives passengers and business travellers can also be affected.
