CHINA has the potential to outstrip all other countries as a destination for Australian tourists, Wendy Wu Tours general manager Alan Alcock told a group of 70 Australian and South African retail travel agents in Shanghai this week. (November 17)
The agents were at the opening session of the Wendy Wu Tours-Cathay Pacific Mega-Famil to China and will experience the complete itinerary of Wendy Wu’s 10-day China Experience, one of the company’s most popular all-inclusive group packages.
Speaking at the welcome dinner in the Golden River Hotel, Mr Alcock said that given the continuing expansion of tourism infrastructure, airlines services and English-speakers in the Chinese tourism industry it was only a matter of time until the country became the firm favourite of Australians.
He added, “The country’s vast array of attractions was the recipe for Australians making multiple visits to take in the country’s history, culture cuisine and dramatic scenery.”
The Mega-Famil has been organised to give agents a first hand perception of China and an insight into the actual mechanics and operation of a Wendy Wu itinerary.
Mr Alcock said that the Mega-Famil was arranged because all-inclusive nature of Wendy Wu group tours is something that agents need to personally experience to enable them to best represent the tours to their clients.
Wendy Wu prices include return economy airfares, fuel surcharges, all accommodation, all meals, comprehensive sightseeing and entry fees with a national escort and/or English-speaking guides, all transportation within China, tipping and visas for Australian passport holders
The group will have three nights in Shanghai before spending two nights in Xian and three nights in Beijing. During the tour they will undertake all the sightseeing activities included in the China Experience itinerary.
