With new flight routes set to connect Perth and Guangzhou directly, Western Australia is wooing Chinese travellers.
In an interview with Xinhua, Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Tourism of Western Australia (WA) State Kim Hames has invited investment and urged Chinese tourists to visit the region. The hand is offered just months before direct flight begin between Perth and Gangzhou, which is expected to boost leisure and business travel between the two countries. In order to cater for the expected swell of Chinese tourist arrivals, Hames openly encourage investment from Chinese hoteliers to cater specifically for the whims of the Chinese traveller.
“We would love to see the establishment of tourist facilities and hotels that cater for, specifically, tourists from China,” he told Chinese state media.
Most Chinese tourists head for Australia’s east coast, lured by the gravity of Sydney, Gold Coast and the Great Barrier Reef. However Hames is adamant that WA is more than just mining country. The deputy premier is looking for Chinese partners to co-market the Aussie state to china’s burgeoning outbound travel market.
