China Airlines (CAL) has transported two white tigers from Guangzhou to Kaohsiung. The tigers, named Zhaohai and Huanle, were given by Guangzhou’s Xiangjiang Safari Park as a gift to the Shou Shan Zoo in Kaohsiung, and safely arrived at Kaohsiung along with more than 200 passengers on CAL flight CI-586 from Shenzhen. CAL delivered the animals free of charge, using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The most comfortable cargo space was found for the tigers, using two special cages fixed on two cargo containers in the lower cargo deck. Besides making sure to fully clean the cargo hold, CAL ground crews also made sure not to tow the aircraft on the ramp at speeds faster than 5kph to ensure the animals would not get startled.
The two white tigers are expected to make their debut at Shou Shan Zoo after a 21-day quarantine period.
