A sudden strike by Qantas staff caused major delays across Australia and grounded all international flights out of Sydney for up to four hours on Monday. The action was taken by the Transport Workers Union (TWU) which accused Qantas of compromising safety by failing to properly screen contractors before they begin work, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported.
Qantas spokesperson, David Epstein, rejected the TWU’s arguments, accusing it of appalling etiquette for staging the “illegal” industrial action.
