World leaders to discuss Expo theme

Leading world figures, including former German Chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, Nobel Peace Prize winner and former South Korean President, Kim Dae-jung, London Mayor, Boris Johnson, and HSBC Holdings Chairman, Stephen Green, have been invited to share their visions for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, the event organiser was reported saying.The Shanghai Daily reported that they will become part of a group of 100 leading figures including government officials, international organisation leaders, entrepreneurs, university presidents, scholars and renowned athletes. The group will discuss the 2010 World Expo theme, ‘Better City, Better Life’, urban development, harmonious and innovative human civilization, and Chinese wisdom in urban development, the organiser said.The event is jointly sponsored by the Shanghai government’s Information Office, the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, and some local newspapers and institutions. Transcripts of their discussion will be published by Shanghai Daily.
