World Travel Market has unveiled a social media programme that has been designed to connect delegates throughout the year. The event’s World Travel Blogspot is to go live next month which will cover topical issues in the travel industry while encouraging readers to share, tweet and comment on the content. In addition WTM is to publish paid-for webinars in October detailing how travel companies can develop, launch, manage and measure social media campaigns. During the four-day show itself a two-day Social Travel Market (STM) will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, covering topics such as the ROI of paid travel blogging, video as a tool and writing tweets. “Social Travel Market is aimed at bloggers, digital marketing executives, PRs and anyone in the travel industry interested in tools such as Facebook, WordPress, Twitter and the next generation of networks such as Google+,” said travel writer Mark Frary, who is organising STM with The Sunday Times Online Travel Editor Steve Keenan. “We have a cracking line-up of speakers confirmed already, including Fortune Cookie’s Justin Cooke, Granturismo’s Lara Dunston, VisitBritain’s Pleasance Coddington and Juantxo Llantada of the Valencia Regional Tourist Board with more big names to come”. Other sessions will be held by the International Federation for Information Technologies in Travel and Tourism, Genesys and Travel Bloggers Unite.
