WORLDHOTELS has reported a successful start to 2010 with a 30% growth in revenue and room nights. The group of independent hotels has seen a rise in bookings across all platforms including 20% increase by GDS, 86% through call centres, 92% by booking engine Resmaster and 113% through its website. Bookings for room nights were significantly up in Tokyo (80%), Singapore (102%), New York (88%), Frankfurt (46%) and London (39%). In addition, the hotel group also enlarged its GDS market share in a number of destinations, especially Lisbon, Stockholm, Basel, Tokyo and Singapore. “In line with our ‘Raising the Bar’ Strategy 2010 we have launched numerous initiatives for all target groups in order to grow business for our hotels,” says WORLDHOTELS Managing Director Robert Hornman. “For example, we have an incentive for MICE agents, special offers for consumers or favourable rates for corporate clients”. WORLDHOTELS has also kicked-off its expansion plans with 27 hotels added to its portfolio since January. New additions include the Royal Garden Hotel in London’s Kensington, the Milano Scala in Milan, the Newhotel Marseille and the Hotel Fabian in Helsinki. “We are very satisfied with the results of the first quarter 2010. With various initiatives and programmes yet to be launched in 2010, we anticipate our revenue to surpass last year’s results by at least 25%,” concluded Hornman.
