Wuhan gets new Australian connection

Wuhan, the largest city in central China, will get a new direct connection to Australia next year.
China Eastern Airlines has announced plans to commence direct flights between Wuhan and Sydney on 18 January 2017, with services continuing onwards between Wuhan and Xi’an. This will open Sydney up to almost 20 million people who live in and around Wuhan, the capital of China’s Hubei province.
Flights will run three times a week, departing Wuhan every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2330 and arriving in Sydney at 1330 the next day. The return flights will depart every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 2215, arriving back in Wuhan at 0600 the next day.
China Eastern will deploy its 232-seat Airbus A330 aircraft on the route, configured with 30 flat-bed seats in business class and 202 seats in economy.
This new route will mark the first connection between Wuhan and Sydney, although Jetstar launched flights from the Gold Coast to Wuhan last year. Hainan Airlines already operates direct flights between Xi’an and Sydney.
