Wyndham has announced the addition a new hotel in Queensland. The mixed-use property, formerly operated by Accor as the Mercure Port Douglas Treetops Resort, will be managed by Wyndham Hotel Group under its Ramada brand, and renamed Ramada Resort Port Douglas. The property is the first Ramada resort to open in North Queensland.
The purchase of the property by Wyndham includes the acquisition of 194 hotel rooms as well as management rights for the property. The hotel rooms will be reconfigured over the next 12 months resulting in the transfer of 86 apartments and hotel rooms into the Wyndham Vacation Resorts portfolio.
“We are delighted to establish our presence in this area under the strength and reputation of the international Ramada brand,” said Barry Robinson, CEO & Managing Director of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, and Managing Director for Wyndham Hotel Group in the South Pacific. “We are committed to the expansion of our portfolio in leading tourism destinations such as Port Douglas.”
Ramada Resort Port Douglas, which is situated across several three-story buildings around a natural-style lagoon swimming pool, is close to Four Mile Beach and is a short distance from Port Douglas town centre.
“Ramada Resort Port Douglas is a stunning property which will not only delight visitors to the region but will appeal to our WorldMark South Pacific Club owners. Port Douglas is a desirable destination to visit as indicated by our owners; therefore we anticipate a valuable contribution to the local tourism industry through our acquisition of this property,” Robinson added.
Ramada Resort Port Douglas adds to Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific’s portfolio of 21 properties in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
