Vistara heads north with double launch

Amritsar’s Golden Temple

Vistara has expanded its network in northern India with the launch of two new routes to Punjab.

The airline, which is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, kicked off a new daily service from Delhi to Amritsar on 1 March 2017.

And on Wednesday 8 March, Vistara will inaugurate a daily service between Mumbai and Amritsar. Both services will be operated using the carrier’s three-class Airbus A320 aircraft.

“We’re very happy to add Amritsar to our network, and we sincerely believe in the city’s great potential for growth in several aspects, apart from only tourism,” said Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO of Vistara.

“The launch of service to Amritsar is in line with our focus on customers, who have long desired to fly… to the city, and it is also well aligned with our evolving international plans, as millions of NRIs travel to and from Amritsar every year.”

Amritsar, which has a population of more than 1.1 million people, becomes the 19th destination in Vistara’s domestic network.

Meanwhile, SIA will switch airlines on another one of its Indian routes this month. Tigerair will take over the Singapore-Jaipur route from Scoot on 24 March.
