The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and Tourism Malaysia have reported significant engagement from Indonesian visitors at the Malaysia Fair Jakarta 2026, held from 4 to 7 June at Gandaria City. The event, part of the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026, showcased Malaysia's healthcare, wellness, and travel offerings, attracting attention from Indonesian consumers.

The fair featured 20 Malaysian healthcare providers, including prominent medical tourism hospitals such as Island Hospital Penang and Institut Jantung Negara. These institutions offered Indonesian visitors access to world-class healthcare services. Additionally, seven travel agencies, including Dwidaya Tour and TX Travel, provided curated leisure packages, with Malaysia Airlines as the official airline partner.

Educational institutions like Taylor's University and UCSI University were also present, offering consultations to prospective students and parents. The event aimed to strengthen Malaysia's presence in Indonesia, particularly in Jakarta, a key market for Malaysian healthcare.

MHTC's CEO, Suriaghandi Suppiah, emphasised the importance of the fair in bringing Malaysian healthcare closer to Indonesian communities. "Through this platform, we aim to bring trusted Malaysian healthcare closer to Indonesian communities whilst reinforcing Malaysia's position as a preferred destination for quality healthcare," he said.

The event was launched with the participation of MHTC's brand ambassador, Dato' Sri Siti Nurhaliza, who highlighted the importance of cultural connections in promoting Malaysia's medical tourism industry. In 2025, Indonesia contributed approximately $470 million (RM2.2 billion) in healthcare travel revenue to Malaysia, marking a 23% year-on-year increase. The fair's success underscores the ongoing trust in Malaysia's healthcare system among Indonesian travellers
