Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India's largest hospitality firm, has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. This brownfield project, in collaboration with Atman Resort & Cottages LLP, promises future expansion opportunities.
The 105-key Taj Dharamshala will offer panoramic views of the valley and the Dhauladhar range. The hotel will restore the heritage wing, historically known as White Haven Estate, which was once the Viceroy’s summer residence in the late 1800s. It will feature an all-day dining restaurant, two speciality restaurants, a bar, and a lobby lounge. Guests can enjoy amenities such as an indoor temperature-controlled swimming pool, gym, and the signature J Wellness Circle spa. For events, the hotel will provide a banquet hall, terrace, pre-function spaces, and meeting rooms.
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President of Real Estate & Development at IHCL, stated, “Shaped by its spiritual significance and evolving tourism demand, Dharamshala attracts a diverse mix of travellers. IHCL, celebrated for its commitment to responsible destination development, has expanded its leisure itinerary in the scenic state of Himachal Pradesh.”
The addition of this hotel will bring IHCL's presence in Himachal Pradesh to 27 hotels, including 12 under development. Dharamshala, known for its scenic beauty, is home to the Dalai Lama's residence, Namgyal Monastery, Bhagsu Waterfall, Dal Lake, and the popular trekking destination, Triund. This development is expected to boost local tourism and create new opportunities for the community
