Marketing and Product Manager

About the Opportunity
The Marketing and Product Manager (MPM) is an integral and fast paced role which is highly focussed on planning and implementing above and below and line promotional activity to deliver on the commercial objectives of The Travel Junction (TTJ). 
The MPE requires excellent product knowledge across specific, or a broad range of third-party products which includes a vital understanding of the competitive environment, market segment trends, anticipated price points and value add inclusions. It also requires a strong understanding of the most suitable go to market strategies for specific product types along with the ability to articulate this clearly to our third-party supplier partners to ensure investments are optimised. 
Most importantly, the MPE will work closely with the Merchandising, Sales and Marketing teams internally and externally to execute professionally managed campaign material and packages which drives B2B clients to TTJ to make their holiday/leisure travel purchases for their clients.

Existing Wholesale and Retail Sales leaders, Merchandising team, Revenue Management, Global Land Supply and Finance
 
Key Deliverables  
Product & Market Segmentation Understanding:
A deep understanding of market trends by destination, category and specific supplier. This includes being aware at all times of the competitive environment and price points available through all major distribution channels thus ensuring that TTJ is always competitive in market
An in depth understanding of the unique product needs of our B2B customers and distribution channels to provide strategic recommendations of both product requirements and channel mix – e.g. Retail vs Wholesale
Product Campaign Planning:
Using Business Intelligence tools, monitor product sales performance of client networks and identify trends in order to forward plan the supply of product accordingly at the most optimal times of the year
Utilising extensive market knowledge to advise Contracting Managers on the deals required from out third-party supplier partners to ensure campaign lead in fares are compelling and include an element of exclusivity
Preparing professional proposals in conjunction with the TTJ Marketing team to present to our third-party supplier partners, National, State and Regional Tourist Offices, Airline partners and third-party marketing partners, including recommended product type, media split and usage of contracted marketing funds
Briefing and guiding Marketing team on committed campaign with suppliers ensuring that the expectations of both TTJ and the supplier are clear from the outset
Own the delivery of compelling and creative bi-weekly and ad hoc EDM’s to TTJ’s database to drive campaign sales conversions
Maintain TTJ’s Social media platforms with relevant news and campaign activity to optimise audience engagement and support sales conversions
Ensure product offerings and commercial commitments are produced in the correct legal pro-forma format
Relationship & Communication Management:
Ensuring all relevant parties internally (TTJ leadership team and Sales team) are well briefed on forthcoming promotional activity which includes a constant drive to continually improve sales conversion rates and EDM open rates on Product related matters
Develop and maintain long-term, strong and sustainable working relationships and well executed, clearly articulated product updates with preferred suppliers, National, State and Regional Tourist Offices, Third-Party Marketing organisations, Airline partners and TTJ’s FCTG internal customers, including Revenue Management, Merchandising teams and Finance.
Work with the Global Land Supply Contracting team to ensure that supplier integrity is maintained, i.e. avoiding any discrepancies or overlap with other competing preferred suppliers
Work with Marketing teams and Business Intelligence team to provide product feedback to Supplier partners, tourism offices and third-party marketing organisations for post campaign/activity analysis
Retail Incentive Program Management:
Work with Marketing team, TTJ leadership team and Sales team on the management of an annual trade incentive programme
Briefing and guiding Marketing team on committed incentive program Suppliers, ensuring that the expectations of both TTJ and the supplier are clear from the outset
Manage the registration and communication to trade clients to create and maintain engagement for the duration of the program
 
What you will need:
Proven Product and/or Marketing background with preferably over 5 years of travel industry experience
Strong experience in account relationship management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High degree of interpersonal skills and ability to interact at a high level
Dynamic, outgoing personality, self-motivated, resourceful, highly independent, innovative, creative with a high degree of customer service and results oriented
Data driven – very comfortable at interpreting data and using portfolio reporting to retain and grow business
Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Collaborative team player
Must possess superior organisational, communication, and negotiation/sales skills
Excellent supplier relationship skills
Detailed & thorough understanding of travel product and todays travel distribution environment
Solid handle on the competitive environment for travel
Understanding of legal procedures, advertising legalities and permits required for various promotional activity
Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and achieve targets
Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation
Be accountable and own your own decisions
Proactively offer solutions within challenging situations
Commercial acumen and the ability to think strategically and analytically
