Qatar Airways has become the world’s leading airline for Starlink-powered inflight connectivity after completing the installation of SpaceX’s satellite internet service across its Boeing 777 fleet. The rollout, finalized in July 2025, delivers Wi-Fi speeds of up to 500 Mbps for passengers in both premium and economy cabins — free and available gate-to-gate.
Recently awarded the title of World’s Best Airline by Skytrax 2025, the carrier now operates 54 widebody aircraft equipped with Starlink, making it the largest operator of long-haul aircraft with the technology. The installation programme, originally planned to take two years, was completed in just nine months — nearly 50% ahead of schedule — thanks to a reduction in retrofit time to 9.5 hours per aircraft.
“This new milestone demonstrates our strategic investment in redefining our passengers’ expectations,” said Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Group CEO of Qatar Airways. “We promised the fastest, most seamless in-flight connectivity in the industry, and with Starlink we have delivered it faster and at an unmatched scale.” Since debuting the first Starlink-equipped 777 in October 2024, the airline has operated over 15,000 connected flights. The next phase of the rollout will extend to its Airbus A350 fleet, expected to be completed within a year, bringing high-speed satellite Wi-Fi to even more global routes.
