The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Transportation (DOTr), and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) launched the second route of the Love Bus Libreng Sakay (Love Bus Free Ride) programme in Cebu earlier today, 22nd August.
Tourism secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Transportation secretary Vince Dizon, and Budget secretary Amenah Pangandaman led the ceremonial rollout in Cebu City.
Also present at the launch were DOT undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano; DOTr undersecretaries Mark Pastor, Giovanni Lopez, and Ramon Reyes; DBM undersecretaries Wilford Wong and Goddes Hope Libiran; Loumer Bernabe, executive director of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB); LTFRB 7 (Central Visayas) director Eduardo Montealto; and DOT-7 assistant regional director Gelena Asis-Dimpas.
An inclusive way to get around
Frasco said the Love Bus Libreng Sakay reflects the current administration’s vow to improve mobility for local and international tourists, noting that the programme makes travel more comfortable and accessible whilst showcasing Cebu’s world-class destinations.
The tourism secretary added that the buses ensure inclusivity for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, women, and children, further uplifting communities and enriching the tourism experience.
The new route runs from AnjoWorld in Minglanilla to SM Seaside Cebu, expanding the initial service launched earlier this year between Parkmall Terminal in Mandaue City and Urgello, Cebu City.
The free bus rides are available daily during peak hours, from 6am to 9am and 5pm to 8pm local time.
