Dubai-based carrier flydubai has announced a major expansion of its East African footprint with the launch of new flights to Nairobi, Kenya, beginning October 15, 2025. The route will operate four times a week from Terminal 3, Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi, offering a significant boost to UAE–Kenya air connectivity. In addition to the capital city launch, flydubai is also ramping up its presence on Kenya’s coast, upgrading its existing Mombasa route to daily service from October 1, 2025. This will bring the airline’s total weekly flights to Kenya to 11, further underscoring its strategic commitment to the region.
“Kenya is an important market for flydubai, and we are pleased to strengthen our operations with the addition of Nairobi and the increased frequency of our service to Mombasa,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai. “These flights underline the importance of connecting Kenya to Dubai’s global aviation hub, enhancing access for trade, travel and tourism between our two countries,” he added. Since its launch, flydubai has steadily expanded its African operations, with the Nairobi service marking its 12th destination on the continent. Other destinations in its growing Africa network include Alexandria, Addis Ababa, Cairo, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Djibouti, and Entebbe, among others. The carrier views Kenya as a critical node in linking the Middle East with East Africa, particularly as demand rises from business travelers, leisure tourists, and diaspora communities.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa and South Asia) at flydubai, added: “This expansion provides more convenient options for customers from the UAE and across our network to access Kenya, whether they are travelling for business, leisure or to visit friends and family. We sincerely thank the Kenyan authorities and our partners for their support in making these routes possible.”
With Dubai serving as a key global transit hub, the new and expanded flights are expected to facilitate increased economic exchange, tourism flows, and cultural connectivity between the two nations—further cementing the UAE’s growing role as a bridge to Africa.
