Representative ImageTravellers worldwide remain sceptical about using Agentic AI—autonomous digital assistants—for trip planning, according to the Global Rescue Autumn 2025 Traveller Sentiment and Safety Survey. Whilst only 22% of respondents expressed willingness to use AI for their next international trip, a significant 40% rejected the idea, and 38% were unsure. The survey, conducted in October 2025, highlights a clear reluctance among travellers to relinquish control to AI, despite its growing presence in the travel industry.
The survey revealed that awareness of Agentic AI is low, with only 18% of respondents having heard of it prior to the survey. Men and non-US travellers showed slightly higher awareness levels than women and US respondents. Comfort levels dropped further when considering AI making autonomous decisions, with only 20% willing to let AI design a complete itinerary. Discomfort was particularly high regarding AI booking flights or hotels without approval, with 79% expressing unease.
However, travellers showed more openness to AI-driven cost savings, with 38% comfortable allowing AI to apply promo codes or adjust bookings for better deals. Dan Richards, CEO of The Global Rescue Companies, noted, "Travellers may welcome AI tools that save them money, but they’re not yet ready to let those tools make major decisions on their behalf."
The survey, which included over 1,600 respondents, underscores the cautious curiosity of travellers towards AI, indicating a preference for financial benefits over relinquishing travel planning control.
